Moving animals from rescue to rescue, with compassion and care.
Our commitment to rescues and the animals you help extends across the country!
We help with the transport between rescue organizations, so we can all work together more effectively. Rescues from one end of the US to the other can support each other's efforts, and find homes for even more animals. After all, that is what it is all about.
AN OVERVIEW
The transports we do are rescue directed. That means one rescue arranges with one or more other rescues to accept animals. We do none of the accessing of appropriateness of the placements, and are not involved in the decisions about where animals go, or who the end adopters are.
We provide transport only.
We are not a rescue organization ourselves. We rely on you, the rescue organizations, to find safe and appropriate placements.
The transport runs are coordinated according to what we can manage logistically and geographically. We are limited in the number of hours we can drive without providing rest and exercise to both animals and drivers. We are limited by where we can find places to overnight (overnights require quite a bit of space and several volunteers). We can also be limited by weather and other factors beyond our control. Circumstances can change. Rest assured, we will do our heart's best to pull off some magic.
Although we may make several stops, the same drivers remain with the animals throughout. While in transport, we provide the carriers the animals ride in, and we keep those - we do not let carriers go with the animal when picked up by the end destination rescue. We provide hay, bedding, and pellets (unless supplied by originating rescue), nice fresh water, rest, exercise, and lots of attention and supervision.
Below are the forms necessary to participate in one of our transports, from beginning to end.
If you have any questions at all, just email our Rescue Heroes Transport Head Honcho, Jodie (rescueheroestransport@smallpetselect.com). So we can keep all the moving parts in order, we ask that all our communications are done through email and not by phone or texts. All the details are important, and it is critical to have that trail. We cannot discuss or participate in any conversation about other organization's actions, decisions, leadership, or other topics. We cannot provide an opinion on individual rescuers, organizations, or placements. Thanks for understanding.
