Can rabbits eat peanut butter?

Can I feed my rabbit peanut butter?

While peanut butter may sound like a tasty treat, it really has no place in your rabbits diet as it is high in fat and serves no purpose other than potentially upsetting your rabbits stomach.  So peanut butter should not be fed to your rabbit. Additionally, it is thick and difficult for the rabbit to swallow.  And of course, if you were to feed a rabbit peanut butter very often, it would surely put on unhealthy weight and potentially run into other health problems as well.

Since there are many other snacks or treats to choose from instead of peanut butter for rabbits, theres just really no reason to feed peanut butter.  Rabbits need a diet that is high in fiber and low in fat.  Remember, the best thing you can do for your rabbit is to  provide fresh timothy hay, fresh and clean water, as well as vitamin c fortified rabbit pellets.  Of course, some vegetables fed in moderation and the occasional fruit are also practiced by many pet owners with success.

We hope this post has been helpful.  Till next time, love those rabbits!
